Brazil's iron, steel product exports to US rise

Brazil exported 2.07Mt of semi-manufactured iron and steel products to the US in January-October compared with 1.82Mt in the same 10 months of 2016, foreign trade department Secex reported.

By value the exports jumped 54.7% year-on-year to US$871mn.

Semi-manufactured steel alloy exports to the US fell to 1.34Mt from 1.36Mt in the period, but revenues rose 32.6% to US$634mn.

Shipments of iron ore pellets increased to 2.61Mt from 1.75Mt and by value surged 108% to US$205mn, Secex said.

Exports of manufactured gold products dropped to 8,006kg from 8,643kg, while revenue was 6.69% lower at US$319mn.

Exports of unalloyed cast iron rose to 773,129t from 685,735t and by 59.9% to US$255mn.

Brazil's total exports to the US in the period grew 18.1% to US$22.2bn. The main products were hydrocarbons, turbojet and turboprop components, airplanes, semi-manufactured iron and steel products, and wood pulp.
