Brief: Brazilian states join watersheds management program
Four Brazilian states, including the country's capital, will boost their watersheds management programs with the help of a federal government initiative.
São Paulo, Paraíba, Mato Grosso do Sul and Brasilia joined the national program for strengthening watershed committees (Procomites), which is being overseen by Brazil's national water authority ANA.
The program will improve institutional and operational capacities for watersheds programs and the four states will be eligible to jointly receive some 4.77mn reais (US$1.4mn) in the next five years.
