Chile gives green light to Las Condes light rail tender

The municipalities of Las Condes, Vitacura and Lo Barnechea in Chilean capital Santiago have been authorized by the comptroller general to launch the tender for the Las Condes light rail project, local media reported.

The line will connect the Apumanque shopping center with La Dehesa mall.

The project involves the construction of an 8.8km, 11-station light-rail transit (LRT) line intended to complement Santiago's mass transport system Transantiago.

At least 12 international consortiums have shown interest in developing the project.
