Details for Brazil airport auction change

Brazil changed certain details ahead of December's auction for concessions to operate small regional airports.

Now the government seeks to auction concessions for 12 airports instead of 13 originally planned as the Barra do Garças airport in Mato Grosso do Sul state was dropped.

In addition, the government reduced the value of minimum grants for airport concessions in an effort to attract more interest.

Airports will be offered in three blocks.

The first block includes northeastern airports serving Recife, Maceió, Aracaju, Juazeiro do Norte, João Pessoa and Campina Grande. The second block contains central region airports Cuiabá, Rondonópolis, Alta Floresta and Sinop, while the third lot will comprise two southeastern airports, in Vitória and Macaé.

The minimum total grant for all three blocks was reduced to around 208mn reais (US$54.8mn) to around 438mn reais.

According to the rules, one concessionaire or company may participate in the auction of more than one block.
