ARGENTINA
Argentine state oil company YPF has agreed to sell 24.99% of its electric energy division to GE, and use the proceeds to finance expansion into the generation segment.
BRAZIL
Brazil's Eletrobras approved the sale of six of its electric power distributors, the state-run power firm reported. The distributors in question are Amazonas Energia, Boa Vista Energia, Centrais Elétricas de Rondônia (Ceron), Companhia de Eletricidade do Acre (Eletroacre), Companhia Energética de Alagoas (Ceal) and Companhia Energética do Piauí.
CHILE
Yingli Green Energy has signed an EPC contract with Jenner Renewables over 146MW of solar plants in Chile, the company said in a press release.
COLOMBIA
Almost half of Colombia's hydroelectric projects have been stalled at the concept stage by environmental regulators, a report shows. Forty-five out of 107 proposals submitted by developers since 2012 require additional information related to their power generation potential, according to the report by energy planning unit UPME.
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
Dominican Republic energy authorities plan to launch an international public tender around midyear for new power generation that will prioritize natural gas projects.
MEXICO
Oil and gas exploration and production, seismic surveys, natural gas and fuel pipelines as well as the construction of power stations running on renewable energy in Mexico are expected to draw around US$25bn in investment this year, said energy minister Pedro Joaquín Coldwell.
PANAMA
