Edegel Inaugurates Yanango, Chimay Today

Peruvian power generator Edegel today inaugurates hydroelectric power plants Yanango and Chimay, which form part of the 191MW, US$200mn Chinango electric complex, Edegel spokesperson Pamela Gutierrez told BNamericas.com.

The project also included construction of a 120km, 220kV transmission line that connect the power plants with Peru's Central-North interconnected system.

Yanango (42MW) and Chimay (141MW) are located at 1,300m above sea level near the city of San Ramon in Junin department. Yanango uses waters from the Tarma and Yanango rivers, while Chimay is fed by from the Tulumayo river.
