The HidroItuango JV comprised of Colombian multi-utility EPM and Antioquia department's government has kicked off bidding for preliminary works associated with the 2.4GW Ituango project.
Works include construction of tunnels to divert the Cauca river, access routes and machine house galleries, HidroItuango said in a release.
Bidding rules are available for purchase through November 24, with offers due by December 28.
In September, Antioquia's development agency IDEA and EPM signed the agreement for the latter to finance, construct, operate and maintain the US$2.8bn project.
HidroItuango will boast eight turbines and be the largest hydroelectric project in the country. Construction is slated to begin in 2013.
