Argentina awards hydropower feasibility study
Argentina's national government awarded a contract to consultancy ABS to carry out a technical feasibility study for a hydropower project.
ABS has until December of this year to complete the study, which will determine the type and generating capacity of the plant, a provincial government statement said.
The project is envisioned for the Arroyo Lindo river, near the town of El Bolsón.
The news follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Dow Chemical and Argentine technology firm Invap to develop a 50MW wind farm in Río Negro, as well as a bilateral commitment from the US and Argentina to promote renewable energy and fight climate change.
