Binational hydroelectric dam watch
Itaipu Binacional, operator of the 14GW Itaipu hydroelectric dam on the Brazil-Paraguay border, reported that the complex generated 50.2TWh in the first half, the second highest production in the plant's 34 years of operation, just behind the record 51.6TWh generated in 1H16.
The availability of generation units in the first six months of 2018 was 96.8% while forced downtime due to equipment failure or human error was 0.11%.

EBY, operator of the 3.2GW Yacyretá hydroelectric dam on the Argentina-Paraguay border, will receive proposals in August for the principal transformers and switchyard of the Aña Cuá project.
EBY also said that 10 companies submitted offers in the call to provide engineering services and technical assistance for Aña Cuá.
The bidders were Intertechne Consultores; Nippon Koei Latin América Caribbean; Technoproyect; AF Consult; Lombardi Group; Manitoba Hydro International; China Water Resources Bel Fang Investigation, Design & Research; Stantec; Fitchner; and Esin Consultora.
