Bolivia's state power company Ende collected the first US$20mn of more than US$117mn in guarantees following the rescission of Corsán-Corviam's contract for the 200MW Miguillas hydroelectric project.

The balance is due to be deposited in Ende's accounts in the coming days, state news agency ABI quoted energy minister Rafael Alarcón as saying.

He added that the government has tasked Ende, through its subsidiaries, to replace Corsán-Corviam, and that the only component that will be put out to international tender will be the purchase of turbines and generators.

Also from Bolivia, at least four groups have expressed interest in Ende subsidiary Guaracachi's second call for bids to supervise construction and startup of the Uyuni and Yunchará solar plants.

The potential bidders are Applus, Bolpegas, Bureau Veritas and Nipsa. Offers are due May 3.
