A call for bids for the construction design of Bolivia's San José hydro project could be issued in coming weeks, Jaime Alvarado, general manager of state generator Corani, told BNamericas.
State power company Ende will handle the bidding process and Corani will provide technical support as the project falls within the Cochabamba-based power producer's operations area.
According to preliminary information, the hydro's capacity would be 108-160MW.
Details of who would operate San José have yet to be defined, said Alvarado.
He added Corani's hydro project portfolio includes the revamp of Corani and Santa Isabel to 110MW and 165MW, respectively, from 54MW and 94MW.
Studies also are underway to determine the potential of the Zongo basin that could add 100MW.
The complete interview with Alvarado will be published in the next BNamericas Electric Power Perspectives, for subscribers.
