On Friday, September 21, 2018, the Electricity Corporation of Ecuador (CELEC EP) and the National Electricity Operator (CENACE) signed a framework agreement for inter-institutional cooperation. Based on this agreement, which will last for five years, the two institutions will implement actions to coordinate, encourage, formulate and develop joint activities, which will be aimed at the continuous improvement of the technical operation processes of the National Interconnected System (SNI) and the commercial management of energy block transactions.

Likewise, the development of research activities, innovation, transfer of technology and information, specialized training and provision of services, as well as any other area of ​​mutual interest within the scope of its powers of the signatory institutions will be promoted.

According to the document, it will be possible to sign specific agreements for the transfer of information (documents, materials, etc.), training and development of human talent through visits and internships, research activities and exchange of specialists and training services, technical advice and other specific projects. The objective is to optimize the resources of the two institutions for the development of the country's electricity sector.

The agreement was signed by the General Manager of CELEC EP, Engineer Gonzalo Uquillas Vallejo, and Engineer Gabriel Argüello Ríos, Executive Director of CENACE.
