Chile approves solar, wind projects totaling 104MW

Authorities in Chile's Tarapacá region (I) approved an environmental impact assessment for the US$107mn, 80MW Qanqiña solar photovoltaic project.

Local firm Qanqiña is planning the project, which will inject clean energy into the country's northern SING power grid.

Also from Chile, authorities in central-southern Biobío region (VIII) approved the US$40mn, 24.2MW El Maitén wind farm under development by Parque Eólico El Maitén.

El Maitén will feed into the central SIC grid.

These updates follow Chile's approval of the US$290mn, 139MW Rihue wind farm.
