Colombia's ISA builds up project portfolio
Colombian power transmission group ISA has won its second project of the year as part of the government's push to reinforce electricity dispatch in the northern Caribbean departments of La Guajira, César and Magdalena.
In a resolution, mining and energy planning unit UPME awarded the company the design, construction and O&M of 500kV line Copey-Cuestecitas and 220kV line Copey-Fundación.
ISA picked up the 25-year contract with a bid of US$148mn. The amount is the present value of annual expected revenue in constant currency terms as of December 31, 2016.
The other participant, Empresa de Energía de Bogotá, offered US$214mn. The maximum award value was US$194mn.
In a statement, ISA said its Intercolombia subsidiary will manage the project which must come online by November, 30, 2020, and will help connect future solar and wind parks. The group said it will receive US$18.2mn/year (dollars as of December 2016) once the lines enter service.
Last month, ISA landed a contract to install and operate a transformer bay at the El Bosque substation in Bolivar department, and was a winner in Chile's latest transmission call.
UPME also has bidding underway for the 500kV Colectora substation and associated lines, a transformer bay at the Valledupar substation, a transformer at the Valledupar and a transformer at the Altamira substation.
In a related note, local power group Celsia, through Epsa, started installation of seven transformers at the 110kV Nueva Montería substation in Córdoba department.
The 44.4bn-peso (US$14.5mn) project began in February and falls under Plan5Caribe to improve dispatch in the Caribbean. Works are due to wrap up in September with operations expected to begin November, Celsia said in an update.
