The Delsitanisagua Hydroelectric Project is getting closer and closer to starting its commercial operation. On Tuesday, August 28, the turning tests of the last turbine - generator group of this hydroelectric plant, built by the Ecuador Electric Corporation (CELEC EP), in the province of Zamora Chinchipe, were developed.

The tests consisted of the controlled opening of water from the reservoir to drive the hydraulic turbine and make the first turn of the unit and immediately proceed with the verification of the mechanical variables.

Finalizing the fulfillment of the tests, the technical procedures corresponding to the third turbine - generator group were given, activity that was successfully developed. According to Eng. Juan Pablo Peña, Manager of the CELEC EP GENSUR Business Unit, with the completion of this milestone, the activities to verify the mechanical variables of the last of the units that make up the project are completed.

The Delsitanisagua Hydroelectric Project will have an installed capacity of 180 MW, will contribute 1,411 GWh of energy annually to the National Interconnected System. This will stop emitting approximately 720 thousand tons of CO2 per year, constituting a source of clean energy, thanks to the responsible use of our natural resources.
