Olade signs agreement with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change

The Executive Secretary of Olade, Alfonso Blanco, signed a cooperation agreement with the Executive Secretary of Climate Change of the UN (UNFCCC, for its acronym in Spanish), Patricia Espinosa, within the framework of the activities developed in the Week of the Climate of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Through this agreement, emphasis will be placed on work on training, information and discussion of relevant aspects of climate change in the energy sector. To start the activities of the agreement have been contemplated the first five lines of action:

  1. Strengthen the managerial capacities of decision makers by applying the Olade platform to prioritize transparency issues and monitoring, reporting and verification systems (MRV); access to green financing and consideration of the carbon price in public investments.
  2. Facilitate dialogue tables and the establishment of a Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) platform of good practices among actors involved in the process of accreditation and management of the Green Climate Fund (dialogue on access, synergies, accreditation processes and strategies for promote climate action in LAC with the Green Climate Fund).
  3. Review, dissemination and support in the training by the CMNUCC of the MRV system on efficient public buildings, designed by Olade.
  4. Incorporation of Olade to the Nairobi Framework Partnership (NFP).
  5. Implementation of the information system - modulo emissions.

The Executive Secretary of Climate Change of the UN, Patricia Espinosa, said that this agreement "is a fundamental pillar in the process of integration and the energy sustainability of the region."
