Peru power sector watch
Consorcio Obrainsa-Astaldi (COA) mobilized equipment to the entrance of the water-supply tunnel as part of the 474mn-sol (US$143mn) five-year project to complete the first phase of Peru's Alto Piura multipurpose hydro project Peihap.
COA has presented the engineering work plan for the tunnel and begun construction of the blasting powder storage area, and it continues topographical survey work for the access roads, Peihap general manager Alberto Joo Chang said in an update.

The energy and mines ministry granted Hidroeléctrica Laguna Azul a definitive concession for the 20MW Laguna Azul hydropower plant planned for Ayo district in Arequipa region.
The project will use water from the Mamacocha river and was a winner in the country's third renewable energy resources auction.
Construction of the US$60mn run-of-the-river complex is penciled in for next quarter with commercial operations startup scheduled for December 2018, according to information from energy and mining investment regulator Osinergmin.
