Peru's President Ollanta Humala announced that measures are being introduced to allow private participation in state power companies.
"The modernization of these companies will begin with the opening of 20% to private participation, to complement state efforts to expand and improve power service," Humala said in his Independence Day speech.
State business financing fund Fonafe controls power sector companies Adinelsa, Egasa, Egemsa, Egesur, Electro Oriente, Electro Puno, Electro Sur Este, Electro Ucayali, Electrocentro, Electronoroeste, Electronorte, Electroperu, Electrosur, Hidrandina, San Gaban and Seal.
