Certification firm DNV filed a CDM registration request with the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change for Ecuador hydroelectric project Minas San Francisco. State power generation holding company Celec is behind the 270MW project, which would offset an estimated 690,320t of CO2 emissions.

And Honduran elastics and textiles company Elcatex in coming months will bring online an 18MW biomass plant, local paper El Heraldo quoted Elcatex VP Jesús Canahuati as saying.

The project in Choloma, Cortés department, will be followed by an 18MW plant two months later, said the executive. Two additional projects are penciled in to be ready by early 2015, with combined capacity of all four plants due to reach 100MW.
