Fuel thieves hit Pemex, again
Mexico's NOC Pemex activated its emergency plan after a leak caused by illegal duct tapping caught fire in Tabasco state. A burning vehicle was found at the site.
Pemex has reported 10 illegal taps in Tabasco in its latest update in March.
The greatest number of pipeline taps in that month occurred in the states of Puebla (271 taps), Veracruz (175), Hidalgo (173), Jalisco (149), and Guanajuato (145). Pemex's six refineries are in the states of Veracruz, Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, Nuevo León and Oaxaca.
In March this year Pemex registered 1417 incidents, up from 1057 in March 2017.
Both the government and Pemex have been stepping up measures to reduce fuel theft.
