Costa Rican cable operator Amnet, owned by Central and South American mobile operator Millicom (Nasdaq: MICC), has launched IP-based fixed telephony services in Costa Rica, local paper La Nación reported.
The service allows for the first triple play package offering in the country, comprising TV, internet and telephony.
According to the paper, the price for local calls will be similar to those offered by state telco ICE, though international calls are expected to be cheaper.
Initially, the offering will be available only in the San José metropolitan area, but it is expected to expand to other regions where the cable company has presence.
