Brazilian satellite communications company Arycom has signed a technological and commercial partnership with its Norwegian counterpart Marlink, according to press reports.
The companies will invest 3mn reais (US$1.72mn) in the partnership to meet demand from Brazil's offshore sector, mainly vessels that support oil-drilling platforms.
The partnership with Marlink will enable Arycom to provide VSAT broadband solutions in the C and Ku bands for the maritime sector. The solutions will allow vessels to provide internet access to crew members and passengers with a monthly fixed cost regardless of their data traffic.
"The offshore industry is currently one of the main business focuses for Arycom. Petrobras is our main client in the sector and is already using Arycom's fleet broadband (FBB) solution for vessels supporting oil-drilling platforms. With this new partnership, Arycom will provide complementary solutions to those already implemented," Arycom CEO Svante Hjorth was quoted as saying.
