As part of a digital transformation drive started in 2015, Brazilian LPG distributor Copagaz is investing 41mn reais (US$13.1mn) in the implementation of new management systems and in apps to the manage workforce, sales and customer orders.
Of the total investment budget in this area, nearly 20% has gone on an ongoing contract with SAP for the development of a new management platform.
This part of the project required hiring three consultancies, two of them German, and the expansion to new stories in the building it occupies in São Paulo to house the extra staff, Copagaz said.
In addition to the change in ERP software, Copagaz also integrated it into a logistics management platform for real-time and online control of distribution and delivery.
The other 80% of the budget is being allocated to other IT projects, some of which are being developed internally, such as a tablet app for better control of commercial sales team.
Another investment has also been made in the launch of Copa Mobile app, aimed at management of sales to the business segment.
Finally, this year the company also intends to launch an application for resellers focused on residential consumers.
Copagaz is the fifth largest LPG distributor in Brazil, producing 600,000 tons of LPG per year and generating annual revenues of 1.8bn reais.
The company operates in 1,500 municipalities in 18 states of the country through 14 bottlers, 13advanced warehouses (DACs) and 2,500 resellers.
