Paraguayan cable TV operator Cablevisión expects to invest US$26mn over the next five years, looking to cement a better position to face increasing competition in the market, local press reported.
Telecoms watchdog Conatel recently awarded several licenses to telecoms operators to enter the pay-TV segment. Among the operators who received these licenses are Tigo and Claro. State operator Copaco received a license to offer services through IPTV technology.
Cablevisión currently has some 115,000 subscribers across the country.
The operator is fully controlled by Argentina media giant Grupo Clarín.
