Chile's largest electric utility, Enel Distribución Chile – formerly Chilectra – expects gross capital expenditure in 2019 to reach 137bn pesos (US$203mn), up 48% from estimated capex in full-year 2016.
The increase will be driven by growth in connections, improvements in the quality of service, network automation and digitization, and growth in the unregulated segment, the company said in a presentation.
Enel Distribución Chile said it expects power demand in Chile to grow by 2.4% in 2017, with stronger growth forecast for 2018 (+3.7%) and 2019 (+4.5%).
The firm expects its client base to grow by an average of 2.3% annually over the 2016-19 period.
