Ecuadorian state telecoms operator CNT has invested US$1.03bn from 2007 to December 2011, local press reported, citing the company's annual results.
As part of that investment, the operator has deployed some 179,000 fixed telephony lines and 138,000 internet connections in 24 provinces this year.
In addition, the investment includes US$72mn to implement a new mobile platform scalable for LTE technology to provide voice services, VAS and mobile broadband.
This year, the company also launched satellite DTH services.
Further, CNT is investing in a project to deploy more than 1,000km of fiber optic network, which will allow more than 60,000 telephone lines to be delivered throughout the country.
CNT, formed as a result of a merger between Pacifictel and Andinatel in November 2008, offers fixed and mobile telephony, long distance services and broadband.
