Mexican telecoms regulator Cofetel has settled seven interconnection agreements as part of its policy to gradually reduce service prices to promote competitiveness in the sector, Cofetel said in a statement.
Cofetel confirmed a rate of 0.3912 pesos (US$0.0339) per minute for mobile interconnection, applicable to the local mobile networks of Telcel, Grupo Telefónica and Grupo Iusacell/Unefon. The rate will be valid until December 2011.
For fixed interconnection, the rate will be 0.03951 pesos, applicable to Operbes, Bestphone, Cablevisión and Cablemás, for the same period.
Cofetel also ruled that interconnection payments must be made considering only call duration, without rounding to the next minute.
