Entel shuffles up management

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

Chile telco Entel has announced changes to the organization, beginning with naming Antonio Buchi as the company's new general manager.

On March 1, Buchi will replace general manager Richard Buchi, who will move to executive vice president of Grupo Entel, according to a press release from the company. In addition to his position as general manager, Antonio Buchi will also act as general manager of the company's mobile operator arm, Entel PCS, replacing Hernan Mario, who will continue in a consultancy role to the executive vice presidency.

These changes are part of Entel's efforts to integrate its fixed and mobile sectors. According to outgoing general manager Richard Buchi, this structure is a new way of organizing in order for Entel to move toward integrated solutions for its customers.

Also, during the first half of the year, Entel will appoint current manager of marketing and development at Entel PCS, Jose Luis Poch; manager of sales at Entel, Mario Nuñez; and VP of corporations at Entel, Julian San Martin as respective managers to address customer segments of personal, business and corporate markets.

Meanwhile, the technical areas will be grouped together under one technology and operations management division, which is to be led by Entel's current business VP, Alfredo Parot.

In February 2010, the telco operator unified its brand image. Then in November, Entel contracted an international consultant to help Grupo Entel respond to challenges such as the technological evolution, competition and growing convergence of fixed, mobile and information technologies.
