Italian firms Italtel and Linkra Networks have partnered to jointly provide full IP microwave next generation systems in Latin America and EMEA, Italtel said in a statement.
In Latin America, the partners will focus joint activities, mainly in Brazil and Argentina.
With this combined offering, the two companies are mainly targeting mobile operators, converged service providers, wireless internet service providers (WISP), utilities and large enterprises.
"The ability to own and control the network is crucial to the success of any mobile and fixed operator, or for an ISP looking to profitably face the booming traffic demand of differentiated services and manage network costs," Italtel said in the statement.
As service providers broaden their coverage and cope with growing demand for data, forcing them to deploy higher capacity distribution and access wireless, "the wireless backhauling infrastructure must also be upgraded to IP and broadened to prevent infrastructure bottlenecks," the statement said.
Italtel designs, develops and implements solutions for NGN and NGS. The company is present in 25 countries and has been operating in Latin America for more than 20 years. It has participated in network deployments in Argentina, Brazil and Colombia.
