Latin America ended the second quarter of the year with 44.9mn pay-TV subscribers, climbing 3.8% compared to the previous period, according to telecoms consultancy NexTV Latam, citing a report from Dataxis Online Intelligence.
According to the report, the region added 1.62mn subscribers in Q2 alone. During the quarter, Brazil and Mexico were the two main markets in terms of net additions, with 659,000 and 524,000 respective new subscribers.
According to Dataxis, Latin America recorded 17mn analog cable subscribers and 9.8mn digital cable subscribers. MMDS systems totaled more than 751,000 clients at midyear.
In the IPTV segment, the region reached more than 264,000 subscribers via DSL technology and 64,000 through fiber.
