Brazilian data center and connectivity solutions provider Matrix will offer a data center solution as an internet exchange point (IXP) for the PTT Metro traffic exchange point project, local press reported.
PTT Metro is a project by the Comitê Gestor da Internet no Brasil - CGI.br - that deploys and maintains IXPs in the country. It has 16 IXPs in Brazil, the biggest of which is located in São Paulo with peak traffic of more than 40 Gbps.
PTT Metro allows providers to converge in a hub to interchange traffic, enabling infrastructure to interconnect local internet networks.
Matrix's data center solution offers PTT Metro a considerable reduction in the cost of connectivity, the company reportedly said, without disclosing further details. Another advantage of such a solution is that clients with their own autonomous system can also contract a 1 Gbps port to exchange traffic between the country's main operators at competitive prices.
Matrix, part of Primus Telecommunications, has been operating in Brazil's market since 1988 with presence in more than 60 cities.
