Brazilian mobile telephony operator Oi (NYSE: TNE) plans to conduct LTE trials in June with several vendors, local press reported.
The operator expects to conduct laboratory and field trials with LTE networks.
But at this point, the cities where Oi and the vendors will run the trials are still to be determined.
Local regulatory authorities are expected to provide temporary authorizations in the 2.5 GHz spectrum band for the LTE trials.
Telecom watchdog Anatel plans to award spectrum in the same band for LTE technology. This band is currently being used by MMDS operators.
