Peru mobile number ports up 5%
Peru saw 388,293 users porting their numbers in November, up 4.94% versus October, with Entel and Claro the chief benefactors, according to telecoms regulator Osiptel.
Entel brought in 142,812 lines and lost 83,928, while Claro captured 139,866 and lost 97,190. Movistarsaw a negative balance capturing 84,072 subscribers and losing 153,541, while Bitel won 21,538 and lost 53,046. InkaCel (formerly Virgin Mobile) lost 588 clients.
Since the launch of mobile number portability in July 2014, some 5.642mn lines have been ported. Entel, which kicked off operations in 2014, has led the number portability stakes, having captured 2.414mn lines and lost 972,202. Claro has gained 1.779mn and lost 1.697mn.
FIXED LINE
In fixed line, some 2,424 lines were ported in November, down 30.6% versus October. From July 26 through end-November, Claro captured 72,173 lines and lost 16,570. Lima accounted for 74.6% of total fixed line ports.
