The Bolivian operations accounted for 34% of earnings for Trilogy, with the rest coming from operations in New Zealand. Total revenues for the group were flat at US$191mn.
Viva's mobile revenues fell 2% to US$64mn, with total wireless subscribers declining 5% year-on-year to 2.11mn, of which 80% were prepaid. Prepaid subscriptions fell 6%.
However, postpaid revenues rose 7% to US$1.6mn on increased data usage per customer, driven by LTE adoption, which yielded a 6% increase in Arpu. This was offset by a US$1.7mn or 5% decrease in prepaid revenues.
Data consumption grew 34% thanks to strong LTE adoption of 45,100 additional users during the quarter, or an increase of 120% compared to the same period of 2016. LTE subscribers represented 19% of the customer base at the end of the quarter.
