IN BRIEF: Bolivia rescinds China Railway contract
Bolivia's government has stripped China Railway of a contract to build a stretch of the rail line linking Montero, in Santa Cruz department, and Bulo Bulo in Cochabamba, due to delays in carrying out works, local press quoted Bolivia's public works, services and housing minister, Milton Claros, as saying.
Works have reportedly been reassigned to another company for this part of the US$250mn, 150km three-stretch line which President Evo Morales has said will improve connectivity with Brazil and Argentina, favoring Bolivian exports.
Works on the other two stretches are being carried out by Chinese firm CAMC Engineering and the consortium Yapilo, led by Spain's Puentes y Calzadas.
