Colonel Ramón Carrizales became Venezuela's new minister of infrastructure Tuesday (Mar. 23), according to a statement on the Presidency website.
Carrizales, previously president of national urban transport fund Fontur, replaces Diosdado Cabello. Last year there had been speculation that President Hugo Chavez was going to make Cabello head up state oil company PDVSA, replacing Ali Rodriguez.
In the statement Carrizales said that he will give continuity to infrastructure programs and strengthen areas important for competitiveness especially in relation to road development, the national railroad plan, waterways, ports and airports.
