Brief: Ecuador appoints minister for PPP committee
Ecuadoran President Lenín Moreno has appointed public works and transport minister Paúl Granda as the head of an inter-institutional committee that will oversee public-private partnerships (PPP) related to infrastructure and transport projects.
"The head of the transport and public works ministry will keep a record of all PPPs developed by the inter-institutional committee under his charge... [He] will conduct continuous monitoring of the projects developed by these partnerships and will inform the presidency's legal secretary about them on a quarterly basis," a presidential decree issued Monday reads.
This committee was established in 2015 as part of a new PPP law. It is responsible for approving such partnerships and supervising their execution, among other duties.
