Mexico to invest in infrastructure of border crossing with Texas
According to El Economista, the Mexican government plans to invest US$80mn over the next three years to upgrade the infrastructure of the Pharr-Reynosa international border crossing bridge. The crossing connects the two eponymous cities located in Texas and the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, respectively.
The funds will serve to upgrade the border crossing by expanding the bridge from four to eight lanes and modernizing the customs facility, among other works reports local daily Reforma.
Luis Bazan, manager of the Pharr bridge in Texas told the paper that the binational project will include a US$30mn investment to carry out improvement works on the US side of the crossing.
Works on the US side of the bridge are set to start next year, but no information was provided on the estimated starting date of works on the Mexican side.
The bridge is one of three border crossing facilities that federal roads and bridges authority Capufe operates in Reynosa.
