Banco do Brasil appoints new head of insurance arm

State-run lender Banco do Brasil appointed Antônio Maurício Maurano as the new head of its insurance arm, BB Seguridade Participações.

Maurano will replace José Maurício Pereira Coelho, who will assume as president of Previ, the pension fund of bank's employees and the largest pension fund in Latin America.

Maurano currently serves as a VP of Banco do Brasil's wholesale division. Previously, he was a commercial director at the bank.

Walter Malieni Júnior, currently head of the retail banking area, will take charge of the wholesale division.

Meanwhile, Gueitiro Matsuo Genso will leave the Previ top post to become VP of the retail banking business.

The bank's board must approve the appointments.
