Premiums sold in 1H16 by the Honduran insurance sector totaled 4.82bn lempiras (US$215mn) up 8% year-on-year, local insurers association Cahda said.
Accumulated inflation over the first half of the year was 2.27%, according to the country's central bank.
Fire insurance was the biggest seller, accounting for 1.02bn lempiras in premiums sold during H1, Cahda said, website BDS reported.
Next were health insurance and group life with 871mn lempiras and 353mn lempiras, respectively.
The three segments represent about 67.3% of total premiums in the country, BDS said.
Total claims in the first half of the year were 1.8bn lempiras, up 5.2% year-on-year.
