Mexichem kicks off aluminum fluoride plant in Matamoros

Mexican company Mexichem (BMV: MEXCHEM) has inaugurated a 60,000t/y aluminum fluoride plant in Tamaulipas state's Matamoros, the company said.

The mineral is an important compound in the manufacture of metallic aluminum.

The plant's output will mainly be exported. Mexichem said the plant's construction cost US$60mn, which was paid for out of cash flow.
