Brazil aluminum output up through October

Brazil's primary aluminum production in the first 10 months of the year was 659,200t, up 1.9% compared with the same period 2015, industry association Abal reported.

Primary aluminum output in October rose 7.1% compared to the same month last year to 68,000t, the sixth consecutive monthly increase.

For full-year 2015, output totaled 772,200t.

Abal is made up of CBA, part of local conglomerate Votorantim, as well as Alcoa, BHP Billiton, Albras and Novelis.

Currently ranked nine among the world's largest aluminum producers, Brazil has dropped several places in the past few years in the global upstream segment. However, it is still a major player with an integrated chain that includes bauxite mining, alumina refining and primary aluminum production.
