Microsoft to work on start-up program with Fortaleza
The government of Fortaleza, capital of Brazil's Ceará state, expects to create a local start-up program following the signing of a cooperation agreement with Microsoft.
The MoU was inked on Tuesday by Microsoft Brasil public sector head Milton Burgese and Robinson de Castro, chief of the city's economic development department. Investment amounts were not revealed.
"The intention with this accord with one of the world's largest technology companies is that the city becomes prepared to partner on the creation of a municipal start-up program", Castro said, according to a joint Microsoft/Fortaleza.
Microsoft said the initiative will improve access to cutting-edge technology for small entrepreneurs. The agreement foresees the inclusion of local start-ups in Microsoft's BizSpark program and free access to the Windows Azure cloud platform by local entrepreneurs.
