Quebec-based company G4, which does drilling for the mining sector, is looking to expand operations in Latin America from its base in Colombia, operations director Alfonso Monje told BNamericas.

"The idea is to expand throughout Latin America in the mining sector and Colombia will be the base, where we hope to be part of the good moment the sector is experiencing," Monje said.

The company currently has projects in Mexico and Canada and in 2011 it started in Panama and Colombia. In the latter country it is laying the groundwork to offer RC drilling and diamond drilling up to 2,000m with different diameters.

"G4 did a preliminary study in Brazil, Peru and Colombia that evaluated the possibility of breaking into the business and the overall situation in each country. Colombia had the leading score in the evaluation and was the country that caught the company's attention," Monje said.

G4 specializes in drilling services in difficult terrain or extreme conditions.
