Gold production at Vancouver-based B2Gold's (TSX: BTO) La Libertad property in Nicaragua will reach 130,000oz in 2013, local press reported.
Production in 2012 was 110,000oz, up from 100,000oz in 2011, mine director Omar Vega told news website El Nuevo Diaro, with a further 20,000oz expected to be added to production this year.
The company will invest US$30mn in the property in 2013, with the money to be spent on improvements in machinery and optimization, Vega was quoted as saying.
Construction of a new gold mine at the Jabalí Central deposit in the Libertad property was scheduled to begin by the end of 2012, B2Gold Nicaragua country manager said in November.
A further production increase to 150,000oz is expected in 2014 as a result of increased throughput from Jabalí.
As well as the La Libertad and Limón mines in Nicaragua, B2Gold has projects in Colombia, Costa Rica, Uruguay and Namibia.
