Govt to submit ethanol, biodiesel bill in Sep

Panama's government will submit to the legislative assembly a bill to regulate ethanol and biodiesel in September, newspaper Panamá América reported.

The commerce and industries ministry will present a draft of the bill to the cabinet council before the legislation is presented to the assembly.

The government is studying the possibility of using ethanol additives in gasoline or biodiesel from palm trees as part of efforts to reduce dependence on oil imports. Oil accounts for over 50% of the country's energy consumption.
