Brazil's state oil company Petrobras is expected to complete the construction of the Barra do Furado-Cabiunas gas pipeline in June. The pipeline will connect an offshore production platform in Brazil's Campos Basin with processing units in Macae, Rio de Janeiro state. This is the first of three pipelines in Petrobras' US$390mn Cabiunas complex. The new pipelines are expected to boost Campos Basin gas production to six million cubic meters per day by the year 2000. Cabiunas will also comprise a treatment unit, two liquids recovery units and a liquid fractioning unit.
