Central Peru targeted for exploratory campaign

Peruvian environmental authorities received documents for a hydrocarbons exploratory project in the central highlands and Amazon.

Petrolífera Petroleum del Perú plans to shoot seismic and drill wells at block 133, according to the EIS filed with the energy and mines ministry's energy environmental affairs office.

The area covers 309,309ha in regions Huánuco, Ucayali and Pasco.

The company has budgeted US$54mn to acquire 1,232km 2D seismic. The other component envisions construction of three platforms, each capable of drilling up to four exploratory/confirmation wells.

The estimated cost of one well/location is US$50mn and US$185mn for four wells/location.

The junior, which is controlled by Gran Tierra Energy, filed in October a semi-detailed EIS to carry out a similar campaign on block 107.
