Former oil executive and politician Luis Miguel Morelli has been named as the new head of Colombia's hydrocarbons regulator ANH.
Morelli replaced Orlando Velandia, who had held the position since October 2016.
A one-time executive of state oil company Ecopetrol and Texas-based Occidental Petroleum, Morelli has more than 20 years of experience in the hydrocarbon sector, according to a statement published by the mines and energy ministry.
He also served as the governor of Colombia's Norte de Santander department from 2004 to 2008.
"Morelli will face the challenge of boosting and promoting investment in the sector in order to increase production and boost oil and gas reserves," the ministry said.
