Argentine province Mendoza will launch a hydrocarbons call by year-end for two production and 10 exploration areas.
"We have reduced and simplified some additional commitments that did not add value and improved qualification conditions; we will not permit companies to enter that have no real intentions of carrying out the works," a Mendoza government release quoted provincial energy and mining undersecretary Emilio Guiñazú as saying.
"The difference with other tenders, where economic payments were proposed that later were not fulfilled, we are going to establish fixed royalties and the company that wins will be the one that presents greater investment commitments in exploration and greater speed in the investment proposals," he added.
The production areas are Puesto Pozo Cercado Occidental and Atuel Norte.
The exploration areas are Río Diamante, CN III Norte, Boleadero, Loma Cortaderal, Cerro Doña Juana, Ranquil Norte, CN VII-A, Chachahuén Oeste, Loma del Divisadero and Puesto Pozo Cercado Oriental.
Information from Argentina's energy and mining ministry shows that in the first eight months of this year, 145 wells were completed in Mendoza versus 167 in the year-ago period.
